Why is a Muslim place of worship called a mosque?  Because Muslims interpret the word "mosque" based on Arabic grammar, while the meaning of the word "mosque" in the language of the Koran is NOT the same as the meaning of the word "mosque" in Arabic.  I will explain the meaning of all the words "mosque" based on the Koran as I understand it, but first, this explanation will be long, because the word "mosque" in the Koran does not only refer to "buildings of worship" for Muslims, which initially were almost destroyed by God.  (22:40).  The word "mosque" comes from the root word "S j d" which in Arabic is interpreted as "sujud" in the sense of bowing physically, until the knees, feet, hands and forehead are parallel to the ground, as a form of worship, so that when it becomes a "mosque",  Arabs interpret it as "a place to prostrate" or "a place to worship".  Many vocabu...

Please ignore if you don’t have time and humility to read a long response. The response to this isn’t a quick one for reasons. And in it’s context I must lay out what Quran taught us or at least what Quran can give you because I sense you are a blessed one who found out hadith misleads people. The physical ritual prayer we were taught to perform aren’t what God gave as SALAT. Thus you can’t find “all details” of physical ritual prayers in Quran if you want to re-construct the methods and steps of the ritual. You can’t also find the fundamental details of five prayers, hajj, fasting, etc. in Quran. Why SALAT isn’t physical ritual people taught us?
